Blood in the Water takes place on the boat ride between Junon and Costa del Sol. In the original, you’re all trying to remain incognito until Sephiroth and Jenova massacre the crew and make an appearance.
In this updated version, you’re a little less incognito, even taking part in a massive Queen’s Blood tournament, but you do still come to the rescue when fiends (and Jenova) attack the ship.
Queen’s Blood might be one of the coolest card games in a game ever. In a game full of minigames, Queen’s Blood shines. I love the card collecting portion, and the strategy involved, and every game is a new puzzle to overcome. It seems to be built on the Triple Triad idea from Final Fantasy VIII (another incredible game).
Overall, this is a fairly short, but great transitional/interlude chapter, but it’s packed with great moments (fiends morphing with the men in black robes), and the first Jenova battle did not disappoint.
