The US Mint Released a New Coin Today!

The US Mint released pre-orders for the new Harriet Tubman coins today (1/4/24 at 12pm Eastern).

I set aside some money in YNAB (You Need A Budget) last year when I heard these were being released, and ended up pre-ordering the silver proof version. Very exciting! Since these are a pre-order, it looks like orders may be going out in February through April.

There are three versions available, and each version is available in Proof and Uncirculated.

Harriet Tubman, born into slavery, became a leading abolitionist and political activist. She is best known for her role as a “conductor” on the Underground Railroad, guiding enslaved people to freedom. She also joined the Union Army, and performed the roles of nurse, spy, and Army Scout. An amazing person, with an amazing legacy, and I believe these coins commemorating her are well deserved.

The designs are also pretty incredible! Since they’re not released yet, I don’t have a personal image, but these are from the US Mint website:

All of these coins can be viewed and purchased at the US Mint coin shop, here: https://catalog.usmint.gov/shop/coins/all/

The next release from the US Mint site will be the American Eagle 2024 One Ounce Silver Proof Coin on January 16th. I’m consistently up in the air as to weather or not I want an American Eagle, but they do seem to be extremely popular with collectors.
