Spending the evening watching some old Pawn Stars episodes while transferring the Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents into their new home.
I’ve found the Whitman coin folders can fall apart over time, but with the albums, as long as you aren’t too hard on them while adding/removing coins, they can last quite a while. That little extra cost goes a long way, and while I know the albums aren’t indestructible, I’ve been trying really hard to subscribe to the BIFL (Buy It For Life) philosophy lately, and these can fit into that category as long as they are handled and stored properly.
For the transfer, I’m going to push the coins out the back of the folder, and I’m not too worried about damaging the folder, since it’s basically done as it is. From there, I’ll do my best to only handle the coins by their edges, and slide them into the open slots in the album. For duplicates, I might double them up, or put them into their own Air-Tites, or Lighthouse square tubes.
Penny hunting is my primary at the moment, so this was definitely a big need/upgrade!
As a bonus edit while I’m working, I’ve got three 1898s, and someone added a drawing of a moon to one of them (it wasn’t me), so I wanted to share those here:
