But It Was a Beginning

As we kick off a brand new year, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about starting a hobby blog in 2024. This blog may be read by everyone, or no one at all, and that’s okay! The blog may also end as quickly as it starts, and that’s okay as well. I wanted to at least begin the exercise of cataloging the things I’m interested in, and getting the additional experience writing and blogging.

I’ll start by sharing one of the larger hobbies I’m going to post about, including my most recent acquisition to my coin collection, which is a 1909 VDB Wheat Penny:

The 1909 VDB Wheat Penny is a numismatic treasure that embodies both historical significance and artistic distinction. This particular coin was the inaugural year of the series, and also features the designer’s initials “VDB” in honor of the artist, Victor David Brenner. These initials were prominently showcased on the reverse side of the coin. However, in response to public disquiet, the U.S. Mint made the decision to stop production of the penny, and remove the initials. This made the VDB penny a collector’s dream, so I’m extremely excited to finally add one to my collection (and a beautiful one at that).

While I do a ton of coin roll hunting, this one was acquired from a local coin shop (LCS). At any rate, it was a great way to start the year.

Thank you for joining me on this initial journey into the world of blogging. Stay tuned for more!
