Super Bowl LIX Post Game Thoughts

With the Eagles beating the Chiefs 40-22, I’m not totally surprised. At one point, the game was 34-0! There were signs throughout the season that something like this might happen:

I was going to be hyped for either team, since Saquon and Hopkins both deserve a ring. Saquon winning on his birthday and setting the single season rushing record (post-season included) was a pretty solid cherry on top.

The Kendrick Lamar halftime show was awesome. Great choreography, a ton of hidden meanings and references, it’s definitely worth a watch here (NFL disabled embeds).

While it was basically a blowout, it was still overall a solid Super Bowl. The Eagles showed up, the Chiefs didn’t, and Tom Brady had some very therapeutic moments on commentary.

This was also my son’s first Super Bowl, which was very cute. He got to wear his football outfit, watch kick-off, take a couple of photos, then it was bedtime.

On a side note, I typically pause YouTube TV in the off-season, then restart it when football kicks back up, but with their recent price increase (again), I’ve officially canceled YouTube TV. I’ll be finding another way to watch football next season that doesn’t cost $90+ a month.

YouTube TV has rolled out a series of price hikes over the years. When launched back in 2017, the going price of its streaming package was $35 a month. By 2019, that fee rose to $50 — and has climbed higher and higher since. The last time YouTube TV raised its base price, then to $72.99, was in March 2023.

Now I’m just bummed we have to wait another 6 months for football!
