I got this one over the holidays, and I’m pretty excited about it! It’s still my first Seated Liberty coin, and anything from the 1800s (or older) qualifies as cool in my book. It’s a little worn, but it’s going in an airtite, so it should be preserved as it is moving forward.
The Seated Liberty half dollar was minted from 1839 to 1891, and showcases the seated figure of Liberty draped in a gown, holding a pole topped with a liberty cap in one hand and a shield in the other. Collectors often seek Seated Liberty half dollars not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their representation of a pivotal era in American history.

This coin went through numerous versions over the years. This one is the fourth type, which has arrows at the date, and no rays or motto on the reverse. Details on the other types (including some really cool photos) can be found on the PCGS website, here.
